JOHANNESBURG – Cricket SA (CSA) and Kagiso Rabada will seek legal advice after the Proteas fast bowler on Monday was suspended for the final two Tests of South Africa’s Test series against Australia.
Rabada was found guilty of a Level 2 ICC Code of Conduct offence of ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player’ after an incident with Steve Smith during Australia’s first innings.
He has received a fine of 50 percent of his match fee and three demerit points after a disciplinary hearing following his denial of the charge.
“CSA and KG [Rabada] have 48 hours to appeal the decision by the ICC,” said Proteas media manager Lerato Malekutu.
“At the moment they [CSA] are seeking legal counsel on what decision to make.
If KG appeals he will still be suspended unless the Judicial Commissioner is appointed early and hears an argument to allow him to still compete whilst hearing is being sorted out.”
