Proteas bowler, Kagiso Rabada is out of the rest of the series against Australia with a groin strain.
The subsequent injury means he will also miss South Africa's tour to India which starts early next month.
Rabada sustained the injury during the Proteas loss to Australia in the third and final T20 against Australia at Newlands on Wednesday evening and will see him on the sidelines for approximately four weeks.
Cricket South Africa Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shuaib Manjra explained the prognosis.
“Kagiso (Rabada) sustained a groin muscle strain in the T20 series against Australia, he was assessed by the medical staff, assisted by an MRI scan. The significant injury means that he will take approximately four weeks to heal, which effectively rules him out of both the Australia and India ODI series,"he said.
“The CSA medical staff will ensure his effective and expeditious recovery.”
No replacement has been named as yet.
