SUN CITY - Five local men were very much in the hunt around the halfway point of the third round of the 2017 Nedbank Golf Challenge today.
Haydn Porteous, who won the Czech Open earlier this year, was the big mover as his third round drew to a close. He went out in 32 after recording three birdies, an eagle and a bogey and added another birdie at the par-four 11th to be at five-under for the round, and three-under overall, after 14 holes played.
He was just four shots off the pace set by overnight leader Victor Dubuisson, who after seven holes had made two birdies and a bogey to be at seven-under par.

Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel were all still in contention and inside the top 10 as they neared the halfway point of their rounds.
Darren Fichardt, too, was in the mix at three-under, even though he double bogeyed the par-four fifth.
Conditions were excellent compared to Friday when strong gusts and afternoon rain made scoring extremely difficult on the Gary Player Country Club layout.
