DURBAN – It’s the final stretch of the Rugby Championship, top-of-the-table clash in the Currie Cup, MTN8 football final and the incredible Ryder Cup, all on the go.

In the Rugby Championship, South Africa are 4/10 favourites to Australia’s 21/10.

The New Zealand team are very short favourites at 1/10 travelling to Argentina priced at 5/1. Argentina may catch a Black-lash, with New Zealand chasing a series win.

The Springbok team need a bonus point win to give us any chance at the series.

At the prices on offer with the bookies, I am tempted to back Argentina and Australia, which pay 18/1 for the double, if you dare?

The handicaps of 9 points for the Boks and 16 points for the All Blacks may be a bit much, so go under.

In the Currie Cup’s solitary match-up this weekend, it’s Western Province 4/10 at home to the Sharks at 19/10.

The Sharks are worth taking a punt on at that saucy price, but perhaps go on the +9 handicap to be safe, as the game should be close.

Other South African rugby teams in action are in the PRO14, with both Cheetahs and Kings travelling to Wales to take on Cardiff and the Scarlets respectively.

Unfortunately we can’t expect too much from either side, but maybe your best bet is backing them both on the generous over 20-point handicaps on offer.

Then there’s some good football on this weekend, here are some top games and picks.

Locally it is the MTN8 final, being played in Durban tomorrow, between SuperSport United and Cape Town City.

Both teams are evenly priced at 17/10 for the win, which is a fair call. I suspect a stalemate here which is priced at 2/1, but back SuperSport to lift the trophy in the end.

In the English Premier League there are some desperate teams playing at home, and one of them has got to get up this weekend.

The pick is West Ham versus Manchester United. With tension in the visiting team locker room, look into West Ham to get a much needed point or three.

Another couple of cracking games have Newcastle at home to Leicester and Chelsea taking on Liverpool, for the second time this week.

Back the visiting teams in Leicester, and Liverpool to bounce back after the midweek cup loss.

Then there’s the incredible Ryder Cup out of Paris, France, which started this morning. USA is favourites with the bookies at 8/10 and Europe at 13/10.

America looks the stronger team on paper, however playing at Le Golf National and with the Parisian and European home crowd, it could make it a close match-up.

Get in on the betting and enjoy today and tomorrow’s fourballs and foursomes matches, and the singles matches come Sunday.

Look out for wins from possible pairings featuring Reed/Woods, Spieth/Thomas for USA and Rose/Stenson and McIlroy/Poulter for Team Europe.

Enjoy the weekend and make sure you catch the first tee on show in Paris.

Au revoir!
