Johannesburg – The Bulls made a late change to their backline and bench after Akona Ndungane pulled a hamstring during the team's captain's run in Dunedin, New Zealand, ahead of their Super Rugby match against the Highlanders on Friday.

Ndungane's place will be taken by Francois Hougaard, who was picked at scrumhalf. Piet van Zyl moves from the bench to start at scrumhalf. Van Zyl's place on the bench will be taken by Ulrich Beyers.

It will be Van Zyl's first start at scrumhalf since his move from the Cheetahs at the end of last season.

The match will see Werner Kruger become the 10th Bulls player to reach 100 Super Rugby caps for the team. He made his debut for the team in 2008.

Victor Matfield will extend his South African record as the most capped Super Rugby player to 131.

Bulls team: Jurgen Visser, Bjorn Basson, JJ Engelbrecht, Jan Serfontein, Francois Hougaard, Jacques-Louis Potgieter, Piet van Zyl, Grant Hattingh, Jacques du Plessis, Jono Ross, Victor Matfield, Flip van der Merwe (captain), Werner Kruger, Callie Visagie, Dean Greyling. Replacements: Bongi Mbonambi, Marcel van der Merwe, Morné Mellett, Paul Willemse, Jacques Engelbrecht, Handré Pollard, William Small-Smith, Ulrich Beyers.– Sapa
