Lions coach John Mitchell made two changes to their team on Wednesday as the Super Rugby bottom feeders go in search of a crucial victory against the Western Force this weekend.

The Lions, who went down 34-20 against the Reds last week in their 10th successive defeat, square up against fellow strugglers the Force in Perth on Saturday.

Prop CJ van der Linde starts in place of JC Janse van Rensburg, who has been moved to the bench, and scrum-half Tian Meyer moves into the starting XV in another straight swap, with Ross Cronje taking his place among the replacements.

Lions team: Andries Coetzee, Deon van Rensburg, Lionel Mapoe, Jaco Taute, Michael Killian, Elton Jantjies, Ross Cronje, Joshua Strauss (captain), Grant Hattingh, Derick Minnie, Ruan Botha, Franco van der Merwe, Patric Cilliers, Callie Visagie, CJ van der Linde. Replacements: Martin Bezuidenhout, JC Janse van Rensburg, Cobus Grobbelaar, Jaco Kriel, Ross Cronje, Ruan Combrinck, James Kamana. – Sapa
