The Cheetahs are still without a victory in the PRO14 after going down 37-21 against Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Friday night.

Mistakes and handling errors kept the Cheetahs at bay early on.

Flyhalf Simon Hickey got the scoreboard ticking with two penalties in the first 10 minutes.

The Cheetahs kept on plugging away, but twice gave away possession in lineouts while on the attack.

Lock Ben Toolis got the home team’s first try in the 20th minute and Hickey converted for a 13-0 advantage.

The Cheetahs then produced a brilliant counter-attack, and centre Nico Lee rounded off. Tiaan Schoeman converted to reduce the deficit to 13-7.

Edinburgh hit back immediately when right wing Darcy Graham scored, and Hickey converted to bring the halftime score to 20-7.

Left wing Sibahle Maxwane scored twice early in the second half, and Schoeman added the extra points (21-20).

Hickey hit back with a third penalty to get his team back in the lead (23-21) and Fijian No 8 Viliame Mata scored the home side’s third try. Hickey converted (30-21).

Replacement Cheetahs prop Charles Marais was yellow-carded, and Edinburgh replied with a bonus-point try by James Ritchie, which Hickey converted in the last minute.
