JOHANNESBURG - The Blitzboks produced a sensational display of attacking rugby to down Kenya 48-5 in their second game of pool play at the Dubai Sevens on Friday.
The World Rugby Sevens Series defending champions conceded early to the dangerous and unpredictable Kenyans to be 0-5 down but then scored 48 unanswered points to take charge of their pool in the first tournament of the new season.
Seabelo Senatla got a hat-trick of tries while team-mates Cecil Afrika, Branco du Preez, Justin Geduld, Rosko Specman and Kwagga Smith also touched down.
It was a dominant performance by coach Neil Powell’s men, who were strong in the tackle and competed well on the ground, while their defensive work also put the Kenyans under plenty of pressure.
Jeffery Oluoch scored Kanya’s only try in the first half, but after that the east Africans didn’t come close to troubling the scorers.
Earlier in the day, the BlitzBoks beat Uganda 19-10, with tries by Ruhan Nel, Philip Snyman and Tim Agaba. Powell’s men wrap up their pool play later on Friday with a clash against Canada, set for 5.53pm.
