HONG KONG  The Springbok Sevens team on Sunday moved into the final four of the Hong Kong Sevens by beating Spain 38-5 and will now face Fiji in the Cup semi-finals.

The top four finish will confirm the Blitzboks lead in the World Rugby Sevens Series after seven tournaments, a memorable feat considering that a number of senior players did not travel to Hong Kong in order to prepare for next weekend's Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens.

Muller du Plessis scored a hat-trick of tries against the Spanish, with tries in the second, seventh and ninth minutes of the match.

Selvyn Davids and Dewald Human dotted down as well.

South Africa scored early, but then conceded a yellow card and Spain capitalised on that.

After that though, there was only one team keeping the scoresheet busy.

South Africa - tries: Muller du Plessis (3), Selvyn Davids, Dewald Human. Conversions: Human, Davids, Rhyno Smith.
