JOHANNESBURG – Well-known SA Rugby administrator Mervin Green has been appointed by the Namibia Rugby Ltd as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for early preparations for 2019 World Cup.

"I am sure that we have made the right choice in appointing him because his previous working success in other countries can testify to that," said Bradley Basson, President of Namibia Rugby Union.

After retiring as a player n the late 80s, Green served South African rugby in various capacities including representing SARU and Rugby Africa at World Rugby General Council meetings and conferences.  

Born and bred in Malmesbury in the Western Cape, Green was formerly the manager of Youth Rugby at SARU.

He also managed several national junior and age-group rugby sides including the SA Under-19 and SA Schools teams. 

His most-recent position at SA Rugby was as General Manager for Strategic Performances, a post he held for the past five years. As a representative of SARU,Green also served as the secretary general of the continental body, Rugby Africa for the past 10 years.
