South Africa's Olympic committee has called long jumper Khotso Mokoena's refusal to travel to the Commonwealth Games “defiant” and “unacceptable” and has promised a full investigation.
SASCOC says the Olympic silver medallist refused to board a plane in Johannesburg on Thursday with the rest of the athletics team.
Chief executive Tubby Reddy said in a statement late Friday that SASCOC “finds Mokoena's attitude defiant and it's seen in a serious light” and “we find the behavior unacceptable.”
South Africa's track and field team arrived in New Delhi earlier Friday without Mokoena, who was cleared of injury this week, and national sprint champion Simon Magakwe.
SASCOC says it has also noted Magakwe's “no-show.” - Sapa-AP
