Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has kept faith with the same team that won the semi-final to do duty in the Cosafa Women’s Championship decider against Cameroon on Saturday.
The South Africans defeated Uganda 2-0 at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Thursday, with goals by Linda Motlhalo and Jermaine Seoposenwe.
But Banyana missed a number of opportunities throughout the semi-final, and Ellis has called for an improvement in their finishing against the physical Cameroon outfit.
Kickoff at the Wolfson Stadium today is at 12pm.
“We have consistently worked on our finishing, and that’s all we can do. We are getting a lot more on target, and many times we hit it past the post,” Ellis said.
“The goalkeeper has often got the Player of the Match award against us. But we also have to work at home as you don’t get a lot of time to work on things in camp.
“But we are working consistently on that (finishing), because it is a big concern.
“We wanted to rotate the ball much quicker, as we felt we were a bit slow and at times, we gave it away when we were not under pressure.
“We need to learn to be a little bit more patient.”

Motlhalo has four goals so far and is chasing the Golden Boot award, with teammate Khanya Xesi and Cameroon’s Mpeh Bissong on three, and Seoposenwe on two.
Defending champions Banyana will hope to clinch victory within the 90 minutes, as the match will go straight to a penalty shoot-out if the teams are still level, with no extra time.
