MOSCOW – Confederation of African Football (Caf) president Ahmad Ahmad has made a last ditch effort to unite Africans ahead of Wednesday's 2026 Fifa World Cup host city voting.

Ahmad made his plea for the support of Morocco's bid during a Caf meeting in Moscow on Monday.

Morocco will be up against Canada, Mexico and the United States in the Fifa Congress to be held in Moscow on Wednesday.

Morocco, despite the efforts of Ahmad, does not have the support of Liberia, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

"I think there is an obligation to remain within our family," the Madagascan Ahmad told delegates, according to Associated Press.

"But of course it is an individual choice."

Morocco will dearly need the backing of African countries if it is to be successful in its bid. -
