CAPE TOWN – In-form Luvuyo Memela has been ruled out of Orlando Pirates’ Nedbank Cup clash against Cape Town City due to injury.

Memela did not make the trip to Cape Town Stadium after failing a fitness test on a sore ankle.

Pirates announced on their website on Wednesday evening that Memela sustained the injury in a friendly match four days ago.

He has been receiving treatment, but now the earliest he will get back on to the park will be against Golden Arrows on Saturday at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

Goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands is still recovering from a finger injury, but has begun doing some training drills, while Diamond Thopola has started training as well.
