JOHANNESBURG – Round 21 of the National First Division saw leaders Highlands Park continue their dominance, as a 4-0 away win over Jomo Cosmos on Sunday saw them open up a nine-point lead at the top of the log.

Goals from Mothobi Mvala, Peter Shalulile, Siphiwe Mahlangu and Sabelo Nyembe secured an emphatic win for the Lions of the North which brings their seemingly inevitable return to the top -flight ever closer.

Their nearest chasers are Real Kings, who took advantage of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila’s 3-1 loss away to Cape Town All Stars on Friday night by winning 1-0 at home to Richards Bay on Saturday, a result which pushed them up to second spot.

The bottom three of Royal Eagles, Mthatha Bucks and Ubuntu Cape Town remain within a three-point range of each other after they all drew 1-1: at home to Uthongathi, at home to Pretoria University and away to Stellenbosch respectively.

Black Leopards have also moved into the top four thanks to their 2-0 home win over Mbombela United, giving their hopes of reaching the playoffs a much-needed boost.

The NFD will continue with a full round of fixtures next weekend.
