JOHANNESBURG - Thursday will be special for French international goal-minder, Hugo Lloris when France battle it out with Peru in a World Cup group stage encounter at Central Stadium, Yekaterinburg in Russia at 5pm. Lloris (31) is set to join a group of elite French footballers who represented their country with distinction.

The Tottenham Hotspur and France skipper will make his 100th appearance for France and there's no doubt that he will want to cap that with a clean sheet and the three points which will see his side advance in to the next stage of the competition.

Lloris will become a seventh footballer in French football to feature in century of matches. He will follow in the footsteps of the World Cup winning legends like Lillian Thuram, Thierry Henry, Marcel Desailly, Zinedine Zidane, Patrick Vieira and Didier Deschamps.

Thuram is the most capped French footballer of all-time, with 142 appearances made between 1994 and 2008. He is followed by the record French goalscorer Henry on 123 matches, which were accompanied by 51 strikes between 1997 and 2010.

Lloris made his debut in 2008 against Uruguay. He is one of the colossal figures in Les Bleus set up. His next goal in this World Cup will be to suppass his coach, Deschamps.

The French manager made 103 appearances and he is sixth in the list of the most capped players in France. Ahead of him there's Vieira (107), Zidane (108) and Desailly (116).

LIoris will become a first goal-minder to appear in 100 matches for France. Legendary French goalkeeper, Fabien Barthez represented his country in 87 matches. Like all the legends who have played over century of matches for France, LIoris will be striving to win the World Cup.

France didn't display pretty football in their opening gm,e against Australia, but what matters most is that they earned maximum points. There was no clean-sheet for LIoris as France won 2-1 against the Socceroos. Peru will be looking to dust themselves up about going down 1-0 against Denmark in their first encounter this past weekend. To achieve victory they have to go pass LIoris on his 100 appearance.
