Johannesburg - SuperSport United were sent crashing out the Caf Confederation Cup on Saturday evening as Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel romped to a 4-1 second-leg victory in Atteridgeville.

The visitors, who had won the first leg 1-0 in Sousse, bagged a 5-1 victory on aggregate in the final qualifying round to reach the playoffs of the second-tier continental competition.

The Tunisian side capitalised on a defensive blunder in the 36th minute when Drame Michailou put them in front.

And while United hit back in the dying minutes of the first half, with Lebogang Manyama hitting the back of the net from the penalty spot after Bradley Grobler was brought down in the area, the visitors stormed clear in the second period.

With less than half an hour remaining, Michailou beat the offside trap to score his brace, placing further pressure on the hosts.

SuperSport's woes were compounded 11 minutes later when Youssef Mouihbi stretched the gap even further.

Mame Niang had a penalty saved in second-half injury time, in a last-ditch effort to save face for his side, and Marouane Troudi buried another strike on the counter attack to put the result beyond doubt. - Sapa
