MOSCOW – World governing body Fifa are still keeping soccer fans waiting on the sidelines as they ponder which country will stage the 2026 World Cup.

Following a meeting in Moscow by the Fifa Council on Sunday, it was ratified that the two current bids will be put forward to the vote on Wednesday.

Following the publication of the Bid Evaluation Report by the 2026 Bid Evaluation Task Force, the Fifa Council confirmed the two bids.

There is one jointly submitted by the Canadian Soccer Association, the Mexican Football Association and the United States Soccer Federation, as well as the one submitted by the Moroccan Football Association.

On Wednesday the Fifa Congress will determine whether to award the right to host the tournament to one of the two candidates.

In the event that Fifa decides not to choose either of the candidates, it will then launch a new procedure by inviting all member associations – except the four that are taking part in the current process – to submit another bid to host the 2026 World Cup.
