JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns avoided each in the MultiChoice Diski Shield semi-finals draw that was conducted on Monday evening at MultiChoice studios in Randburg during Back Pages.

The Diski Shield semis will be played at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday, April 28, where Chiefs will be away to Bloemfontein Celtic while Sundowns will play host to Golden Arrows.

Amakhosi will have to dig deep for their match against last season’s runners up in the Diski Challenge Celtic, as they are expected to be without coach Arthur Zwane.

Zwane will be assisting interim Patrick Mabedi in the first team’s home game against this year’s Nedbank Cup finalists Maritzburg United at FNB, with kick-off at 15:00.

The alteration in Chiefs’ technical department follows the resignation of Steve Komphela after their 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in the semi-finals of the Nedbank on Saturday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Meanwhile, between Sundowns and Arrows it will be the battle between the predecessor and successor of the Diski Challenge as Abafana Bes’thende dethroned the Brazilians of the championship this season.

The last time these two teams met in the Diski Challenge, Sundowns succumbed to a 3-1 loss to Arrows.

Whoever makes it through in Clermont will book a place for themselves in the finals of the competition that will be stage at Makhulong Stadium on May 5.
