BIRMINGHAM, England – Emmanuel Adebayor scored a second-half penalty Sunday to give 10-man Tottenham a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa that keeps alive their hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

Relegation-threatened Villa led through Ciaran Clark's 35th-minute goal and got another boost four minutes after halftime when Tottenham fullback Danny Rose was sent off for a foul on former Spurs defender Alan Hutton.

But Villa defender Richard Dunne brought down Sandro in the area and Adebayor dispatched the penalty for his 16th goal of the season.

The result left Tottenham a point ahead of fifth-place Newcastle with one game remaining and means Villa is safe from relegation, barring a combination of extremely unlikely final-day results. – Sapa-AP
