LONDON – Chelsea insist Eden Hazard will not leave this summer, but they are considering a £65 million offer from Barcelona for winger Willian.
New manager Maurizio Sarri is working on the basis that Hazard will not try to force a move to Real Madrid, despite refusing to sign a new £300 000-a-week contract.
Chelsea insiders insist that they will not entertain offers for their Belgian superstar, even if Real do bid £150m following their £99.2m sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.
As for Willian, The Mail on Sunday exclusively revealed Barcelona’s opening offer of £50m last month, and the latest bid is their third.
As the price escalates, they fear that Manchester United could make a move, with Jose Mourinho a confirmed fan.
Chelsea are known to admire Anthony Martial but United are reluctant to sell, and the Stamford Bridge club are pressing on with negotiations for Aleksandr Golovin from CSKA Moscow ahead of a £30m offer by Monaco.
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, meanwhile, wants to stay and fight for his place, despite interest from Atletico Madrid.
Giroud, 31, only moved to Chelsea in January, but became first choice under Antonio Conte.
He knows Sarri wants to bring in Gonzalo Higuain, but hopes his top-flight experience can win over the coach.
