CAPE TOWN - Mosa Lebusa is new to the Ajax Cape Town captaincy, but there has been no easy adaptation period for the accomplished left-back. He has had to quickly find his feet as a leader to motivate a squad of players very low on confidence.

Ajax host Bloemfontein Celtic in a PSL fixture at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday night (kick-off 8.15pm) – and, with just one win in seven games and in a precarious log position, only victory will suffice.

The Cape side comes into the game on the back of a 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in Bethlehem on Wednesday and, in the process, the result ratcheted up the pressure on head coach Stanley Menzo.

“The captain (Mosa Lebusa) spoke to the team this morning and told everyone that we need to step up,” said Menzo. “We were very disappointed after the result in Bethlehem. But now we need to find a solution, it is up to us. We need to bounce back.

“We are playing a tough opponent in Celtic. They are high on confidence after beating Wits and City – that’s no easy feat, so we know what we are up against.”

With Ajax short on goals, Menzo is particularly looking to his attackers to make a difference. Winger Thabo Mosadi, a player always crucial to the way Ajax play, has been in disappointing form over the last few weeks. But Menzo said the player performed much better in Bethlehem in midweek, and he was looking for more from Mosadi on Saturday.
