Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to cripple Ajax Cape Town again, just a year after using club owner Patrice Motsepe’s millions to snatch the Cape side’s most valued player, Khama Billiat.

This time, the league champions are chasing the signature of Keagan Dolly, the Ajax midfielder who was crowned PSL young player of the year.

Dolly revealed that his former club, Sundowns, have made an enquiry about his availability. He was seen chatting to Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane before the awards function on Sunday night, and the newly crowned coach of the season was probably trying to persuade the young sensation to join him at the Pretoria club.

The 21-year-old, however, is not too keen on a move to the league champions and says if he were to consider a move back to his home province Gauteng, he would rather join Kaizer Chiefs, who are also said to be interested in signing the player.

“I am meeting up with my agent, and then we will decide. For now, I am contracted to Ajax and I would be happy to stay with them for another season or two because I am playing every game. If anything (concrete) pops up, I will discuss it with my agent and with my dad,” said Dolly.

“There has been an interest, mostly Sundowns has been calling me. If I wanted money, I would definitely join Sundowns. But I would go to Kaizer Chiefs because they are professional. At this stage, I am pursuing my career and I want to play as much as I can to gain experience. So maybe staying at Ajax may be good for me.”

Dolly, though, said he wants a move abroad more than anything at the moment.

“A move abroad would be the first option. We have a link with Ajax Amsterdam, so that would be the ideal move for me now. But I would be happy to move anywhere abroad, just to get the experience overseas, meet new people and learn a couple of things from different people. But if I had a choice, I would love to play in Spain or England.”

Sundowns are likely to offer Eleazar Rodgers and Thamsanqa Sangweni as part of the deal to get Dolly. Rodgers and Sangweni were on loan to Ajax from Sundowns, but Mosimane is not keen to have them back.
