Platinum Stars (0) 2

Lamontville Golden Arrows kept their goal of finishing in the Top 8 alive with the victory against relegated Platinum Stars side at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.

Knox Mutizwa netted a brace and Danny Venter was also in the score sheet as their goals propelled Abafana Bes'thende to victory.

Ennocent Mkhabela and Letsie Kopeng scored the consolation for Dikwena.

Arrows are now 7th on the log after 29 matches and a victory in their last match will secure their Top 8 place.

The Durban side will face Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on the 12th of May.

Arrows also took it to the last day of the season to book their place in to the Top 8 in last year's campaign.

Gerald Phiri was denied by the post in the 7th minute after unleashing a thunder bolt and Maximilian Mbaeve was well beaten but the framework saved him.

Arrows then began to find their feet interchanging good passes in the middle of park.

The momentum resulted in a goal for Abafana Bes'thende as Knox Mutizwa rose high to head the ball at the back of the net.

Arrows were in control of the game and it came as no surprise when Danny Venter slotted the second goal after 30 minutes following the great work done by Jabulani Shongwe on the left and side.

Dikwena were flat and low in confidence. Two great chances were created in a space of a minute. Gift Sithole hit the post after well timed header and Arrows initiated a counter-attack that saw Velemseni Ndwandwe also hit the framework.

The game went into half time, Arrows leading by 2-0.

Dikwena came out an improved side in the second half. Their efforts were rewarded in the 58th minutes when Mkhabela profited from Bonginkosi Ntuli's diligence.

Ntuli came on after the interval and made an instant impact. He influenced the game with aerial power, pace and physical strength.

Sipho Senne was sacrificed for Ntuli and Dikwena continue to press for the equaliser.

It was Abafana Bes'thende though who had an opportunity to kill off the game but Mbongeni Mzimela made a good diving save to deny Ndwandwe.

Mutizwa put the game to bed as he completed his brace in the 80th minute as Kopeng pull one back for Dikwena in referee's additional time but it was to late.
