Johannesburg - Wits, under new coach Cliver Barker, claimed their first win in eight matches with a 2-0 win over Black Leopards, in their Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday.

It could not have been a better start for Barker in his first game in charge after he was appointed during the league break.

Erwin Isaacs was responsible for both goals in the second period.

Isaacs scored the first for the Students in the 56th minute with a shot from inside the area that had the beating of Azwindini Maphaha in the Leopards goal.

The second came in the 86th when Isaacs found the net from close range to close out the win.

For Wits, it means they rise to 22 points from 17 games as they plan a climb up the table.

Leopards, have now not won in five matches and with the loss remain on 17 points from as many games.

After the sides went into the break goalless, it was Wits who started the second period as if they meant business.

Isaacs was involved in the 47th minute when his corner required a save from Maphaha.

Calvin Kadi had a dip at goal for Wits in the 63rd minute, but his shot from outside the area missed on the right of target. - Sapa
