Baroka FC got welcome consolation after they endured what can be described as a terrible week in their Absa Premiership campaign. They are the champions of Q-Innovation 1.

The Limpopo based outfit were hammered 4-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday and Maritzburg United rubbed salt in to their wound as they thumped them 3-0 at Harry Gwala Stadium in Petermaritzburg on Friday night.

Baroka finished the Q-Innovation 1 as log leaders, they amassed 16 points after eight league outings and had to wait for SuperSport United to finish their Q1 matches.

Matsatsantsa A Pitori are behind other teams in terms of the number of games played this season because of their participation in the Caf Confederation Cup. They lost 2-1 on aggregate to TP Mazembe of DRC congo.

When Baroka finished their eight round of matches, SuperSport were had only played four matches. They still had to play Lamontville Golden Arrows, Ajax Cape Town, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City.

After four matches they collected eight points. SuperSport required nine points which meant three victories in their last four matches to overhaul Baroka at the summit of Q1.

Instead they collected eight points. They defeated Lamontville Golden Arrows and Ajax Cape Town and played out to two stalemate against Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City.

As a result SuperSport finished their eight matches on 15 points to Baroka's 16. They needed a victory against Cape Town City this past weekend to win Q1.

However Eric Tinkler's men only managed a draw against which saw Baroka take the title.
