DURBAN - Former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town hitman, Tendai Ndoro, is set to pen a deal with Highlands Park today if he passes the medical tests.

IOL Sport has learned that Ndoro is going for medical tests today. He has been training with the Premier Soccer League newcomers for a while now. Ndoro is clubless, having parted ways with Ajax Cape Town at the end of the last season.

"Ndoro is going for medicals at Highlands Park today. The club has made an offer for him and Ndoro and his agent also made a counter offer. Highlands Park has made it clear that they want to sign him," a close source to Ndoro said.

Kaizer Chiefs did enquire about Ndoro's services but it is believed that Amakhosi wanted to offer him less than what he expected from a big club like them. Ndoro became the subject of controversy last season when Ajax were docked points for fielding the striker in several league games and subsequently relegated. Nodoro had already turned out for two other clubs in the same season, the maximun number allowed by Fifa.

His agent, Dumi Nkiwani, said he can't comment about Ndoro until his future is sorted. "Ndoro is still training with Highlands Park. The club haven't made a decision as yet. They will inform us and the media once everything is done," he said.

Highlands Park have netted five goals in four matches. They have fired blanks on one occasion this season and that was against the reigning PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns. Club director, Sinki Mnisi denied that they are set to sign Ndoro.

"That question should be directed to the head coach but if I can answer that question on a personal capacity, I would say we don't need Ndoro. We've got four strikes and we don't need a fifth striker. Our strikers have been banging goals in the NFD. For me, I don't think we need Ndoro," Mnisi explained.

Ironically, Mnisi also denied that the club was set to sign Bevan Fransman before the season began. IOL gathered that Fransman cut ties with Maritzburg United and was informed that he was on his way to Highlands Park but Mnisi dismissed the link.
