DURBAN – Kaizer Chiefs goal-minder Brilliant Khuzwayo has handed in a transfer request. The uMlazi-born goalie is on his last three months of his contract with Amakhosi.

His agent Tim Sukazi revealed that they have sent a letter to the Chiefs indicating that Khuzwayo won’t renew his contract with the club.

The goalkeeper has struggled for game time at Chiefs this season, where Itumeleng Khune has dominated the jersey.

“We have written a letter to the Chiefs notifying them that Brilliant is not coming back for pre-season in July. The letter explains that we don’t want to renew his contract because they still wanted us to engage.

“He is not playing and his situation hasn’t change. So, there is no point in renewing. (He) is not playing.

“A lot of teams want to have the services of Brilliant. We want to start the search for his new home before July 1. We want to sort out his future,” Sukazi elaborated.

Khuzwayo joined Amakhosi in 2012. He has been playing second fiddle to Khune for the past six years. “We haven’t signed the pre-contract with anyone. We did talk with Cape Town City about him but in passing,” Sukazi explained.

Chiefs would be left with Khune and young Bruce Bvuma. They are currently assessing former Baroka keeper Osacrine Masuluke. Khuzwayo has been heavily linked with Orlando Pirates.
