JOHANNESBURG - Khama Billiat deservedly earns back his place in our Team of the Week, following his stellar performance for Mamelodi Sundowns in the Tshwane derby at Loftus on Thursday.

While the Brazilians are still heavily affected by injuries to key players, the return of reigning Footballer of the Year Billiat has thrust them back into contention for the Absa Premiership title, with the Zimbabwean grabbing two goals in a 5-0 rout of SuperSport United last week.

He wasn’t as much a threat on Sunday in another victory, this time a narrow 1-0 win against Free State Stars, but Billiat still managed to pull a few strings to keep the Bethlehem-based outfit on the backfoot.

Joining Billiat in this week’s team is young defender Motjeka Madisha, a beneficiary of the injuries in the Sundowns camp at the moment.

With Soumahoro Bangaly and Wayne Arendse out injured, as well as Ricardo Nascimento not fully fit yet, the 22-year-old has been thrown in at the deep end by coach Pitso Mosimane and has not put a foot wrong in his three appearances to date, including scoring the winner against Stars in Orkney on Sunday afternoon.

Another potential match-winner popped up last week for title chasers Bidvest Wits in Botswana international Mogakolodi Ngele. He ensured the Clever Boys walked away 3-0 victors against Golden Arrows last Tuesday when he scored twice in the second half.
