Extra Strong Team of the Week

JOHANNESBURG – Old-horse Rooi Mahamutsa was at his solid best when Free State Stars continued their dominance over Bidvest Wits in a 3-1 Absa Premiership defeat at Goble Park.

The hard-as-nails defender earns a place in our Team of the Week, as does another man of steel in Thapelo Tshilo of Polokwane City.

Despite scoring the goal that earned Rise and Shine their maiden win over Kaizer Chiefs since they were promoted to the elite league, Tshilo took no prisoners in the rain as Amakhosi tried in vain to salvage something from the match.

It was his teammate Rodney Ramagalela’s efforts on the wing that ensured Chiefs’ Ramahlwe Mphahlele was pinned into his half and stopped from making those dangerous forays up-front.

Ramagalela’s man-of-thematch showing makes him a worthy inclusion in our line-up. Ditto for the SuperSport trio of Onismor Bhasera, Teboho Mokoena and Thuso Phala, who were in great form in the 4-2 defeat of Cape Town City and worked their socks off in the 2-2 Confederation Cup draw with Horoya.

Mbongeni Mzimela gets to man the goals following his two cleans sheets in the past week, while Prince Nxumalo spearheads our attack thanks to his prolific finishing that helped Ajax put Celtic to the sword while moving the Urban Warriors up the table towards a top 8 finish that only recently looked but an impossible dream.
