JOHANNESBURG - Ubuntu Cape Town continued their giant killing exploits by dumping another Premier Division team out of the Nedbank Cup to book a place in the quarterfinals.

The NFD club from the Mother City eliminated Polokwane City in the last 32 and then knocked out AmaZulu in the last 16 on Friday night.

Kamohelo Mahlatsi was the star of the show in the win over Usuthu, reminding his parent club SuperSport United what he is capable of. The 19-year-old is on loan at Ubuntu until the end of the season.

His performance against Usuthu went a long way in convincing Matsatsantsa to recall him for next season. Mahlatsi led Ubuntu in the 3-2 win over AmaZulu, and was named man of the match. That scoreline flatters Usuthu who were outplayed by the first division side. Mahlatsi and his teammate Jesse Donn are part of our Team of the Week.

Mahlatsi is partnered with Gift Motupa upfront. The Baroka FC striker may not have found the back of the net for Bakgaga, but he was instrumental in their win over ABC Motsepe League team Steenberg United. Motupa created both of Baroka’s goals and worked tirelessly to keep the second division team on the back foot.

While Motupa troubled Steenberg with his physique, Matome Kgoetyane was a menace on the right flank - pushing so far forward that it looked like he was playing in midfield and not in defence.

Kgoetyane is part of a defence that features Patrick Phungwayo, Siyanda Xulu and Daniel Cardoso. Xulu was a rock for the Team of Choice, especially after the club lost their captain and centre-back Bevan Fransman just before halftime against Royal Eagles.

Team of the Week:

Goalkeeper: Ayanda Dlamini (Baroka FC)

Rightback: Matome Kgoetyane (Baroka FC)

Leftback: Patrick Phungwayo (Free State Stars)

Central Defender: Siyanda Xulu (Maritzburg United); Daniel Cardoso (Kaizer Chiefs)

Central Midfielder: Jesse Donn (Ubuntu Cape Town); Siphesihle Ndlovu (Maritzburg United)

Rightwinger: Kabelo Dlamini (Bloemfontein Celtic)

Leftwinger: Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs)

Striker: Kamohelo Mahlatsi (Ubuntu Cape Town); Gift Motupa (Baroka FC)
