Golden Arrows and Highlands Park share the points in Durban
DURBAN – Lamontville Golden Arrows missed another opportunity to add to their points tally when they were held 1-1 by Highlands Park at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont on Saturday afternoon.
Abafana Bes'thende have been in winning positions six times this season but ended up dropping points.
It was another one of those again on Saturday afternoon. Arrows have dropped points from a winning position against the likes of Polokwane City, Maritzburg United, Black Leopards, Stellenbosch FC, AmaZulu and Highlands. They have lost twice and shared the spoils on four occasions.
Lerato Lamola broke the deadlock for Abafana Bes'thende in the sixth minute of the game. Divine Lunga delivered an exquisite cross from the left hand side and Lamola found the back of the net with a well taken header to put his side into the lead.
The pitch conditions affected the rhythm of the game. There were plenty of turnovers in zone two of the pitch.
Both net-minders, Marlon Heugh and Sifiso Mlungwana were more like spectators.
The likes of Peter Shalulile and Knox Mutizwa tried from distance but couldn't trouble the goalkeepers.
Rodney Ramagalela restored parity for the Lions of the North with a thumping header. Mokete Mogaila pinpointed Ramagalela with a quality cross from the left and side. The lanky talisman show great composure to level matters at Sugar Ray.
Ramagalela turned out to be a super substitution for Highlands Park after he replaced Abdi Banda. He came on after the interval and made an instant impact when he scored the equalizer in the 64th minutes.
Steve Komphela and his counterpart, Owen Da Gama made changes but those changes couldn't yield a winning goal for the two teams.
