DURBAN – Maritzburg United completed the signing of Keagan Buchanan on a three-year deal on Wednesday.

Independent Media reported at the weekend that the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder was on the verge of earning a deal with the Team of Choice.

Club chairman Farook Kadodia was elated to have captured the signature of the talented left-footer.

“We are excited to welcome Keagan in our camp. He is a very talented footballer and brings a wealthy of experience. You must understand that there are no easy deals, but we are glad that we are done.

“He was unfortunate not to feature for Chiefs last season, and we are adamant that his stay with the club will be a successful one,” Kadodia said.

Buchanan is joining an array of talented midfielders such as Lebohang Maboe, Fortune Makaringe, Siphelele Ndlovu and Deolin Mekoa in the United set-up.

Coach Fadlu Davids and the rest of the management have already added the services of Denwin Farmer from SuperSport United to the squad.

Tefu Mashamaite has also been linked to Maritzburg, but Kadodia denied that they are interested in bringing him on board.

“No, it is not true,” Kadodia explained.

The Team of Choice are also still waiting on SuperSport United regarding the possible transfer of Fagrie Lakay.

United took the PSL by storm last season, reaching two Cup semi-finals and finishing fourth on the league log.

They will be hoping that the signing of Buchanan will enhance their depth as they try to replicate their achievements of last season.
