DURBAN – South Africa has lost another promising young talent in Mlondi “Vicks” Dlamini.

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia confirmed on Sunday night that Team of Choice midfielder Dlamini had died in a car accident.

The incident happened in Cato Ridge in KwaZulu-Natal.

Dlamini was one of the exciting talents at the club, and made his name in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge team.

Dlamini was still recovering from a calf injury, which is why he had yet to make an appearance this season.

United also lost Mondli Cele in a car accident last year.

“It is very sad and devastating news. We received the call from the police at 7.30am today. We will release the statement with all the details tomorrow morning (Monday),” Kadodia told Independent Media.

Dlamini was one of the nominees for the Diski Player of the Season in the last campaign.

In 2015, he was chosen as the player of the season in the Kay Motsepe League, while representing Sukuma High School.
