POLOKWANE,– Baroka FC and Chippa United both had their chances at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon but had to settle for a point each with a 0-0 league draw.
The result sees Chippa remaining in seventh spot, one place above Baroka.
The Chilli Boys had the better of the first half, dominating possession and posing more of a threat in front of goal.
It was, however, Chippa keeper Brighton Mhlongo who had the first save of the game to make when he did well to tip Matome Kgoetyane's dipping drive over the bar in the 10th minute.
The visitors came back and created chances of their own as Mark Mayambela tested Baroka keeper Ayanda Dlamini with a low shot from range, before Linda Mntambo fired wide with the goal at his mercy after a lovely free-flowing move in the 27th minute.
Bakgaga did have another sniff at goal on the half hour mark, but Mpho Kgaswane slashed a half volley wide, before Chippa midfielder Kurt Lentjies fired wide from a tight angle after another decisive move from the Port Elizabeth side.
Proceedings remained tight after the break with both sides having nothing more than a couple of speculative, off-target shots from distance, before Hassan Banda headed wide for the Limpopo side from a good position 20 minutes from time.
More chance followed for the hosts as Khutso Mohwatseleng missed the target by inches, before Robin Ngalande lifted the ball over the bar from a great position.
Just when Bakgaga were turning the screws, Chippa midfielder Andile Mbenyane nearly grabbed a winner against the run of play four minutes from time when his free kick was tipped onto the bar by Dlamini before James Okwuosa missed with another well-struck free kick.
Chippa keeper Mhlongo was then called into action two minutes later to save a another free kick, doing well to get a touch to Kgaswane's well-struck effort on an afternoon which saw neither side looking too likely to score from open play.
