JOHANNESBURG - The race for the title is producing some tantalising performances and a number of players are raising their hands.

Two leading figures in the race for Footballer of the Year, Musa Nyatama of Pirates and Sundowns’ Percy Tau, once again led their teams to glory in what is slowly becoming a two-horse race.

Tau is fast, explosive and exciting driven by the exuberance of youth while Nyatama is calculating, well-travelled and brings a calming influence. Tau scored two goals in Sundowns’ two matches last week while Nyatama inspired the Buccaneers to a come-from-behind win over former team Celtic.

The duo lead out the ExtraStrong Team of the Week. Tau is partnered with Andrea Fileccia upfront. The Belgian forward is slowly return to his prolific best.

The midfield features Linda Mntambo, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Craig Martin along with Nyatama.

Mntambo was magical in Chippa United’s 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs. He bossed the midfield and sprayed passes at will, even setting up Mxolisi Macuphu with a delightful through-ball.
