CAPE TOWN – At last! After months of speculation about whether Percy Tau will move to an overseas club, it’s finally happening.

The Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star is set to move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League after the deal was approved by the big boss himself, Dr Patrice Motsepe.

The “Brazilians” announced late on Monday afternoon that Sundowns chairman Motsepe has given “instructions to the management” to conclude the transaction with Brighton, who have made an apparent South African record R50 million bid for the speedy forward.

The 24-year-old Tau, who shared the PSL Golden Boot award with Rodney Ramagalela (11 goals) last season, has not trained with Sundowns during the pre-season.

“Mamelodi Sundowns is pleased to announce that the President of Mamelodi Sundowns Dr. Patrice Motsepe gave instructions to the Management to finalise the deal with Brighton & Hove Albion FC (Brighton), after Percy Tau and his agent came to see him and apologised for disclosing confidential information to the media, and for Percy Tau not reporting for training,” Sundowns said in a statement on Monday.

Tau has been keen on a move overseas for some time, and would’ve left on a free at the end of next season – like Khama Billiat, who joined Kaizer Chiefs recently.
