JOHANNESBURG - SuperSport United chairman Khulu Sibiya has called on South Africans to unite in support of Matsatsantsa a Pitori for their Caf Confederation Cup final, second leg tie against TP Mazebe.

Mazembe won 2-1 in the first leg in Lubumbashi last weekend and now host the DRC side at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night in the decisive second leg.

“South Africans must unite on Saturday. It is not about whether you support Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. This is about the nation as a whole. I was very amazed by the Congolese people at the weekend. They came from different places to support Mazembe," Sibiya said.

"Even people who live in South Africa were there to support Mazembe. These people are very hostile. They are hostile even in the VIP areas. I’ve never seen anything like that. The stadium had the capacity of 19 000 but they took 24 000 and most of them where standing. It is time that our people also understand that when the team is playing in Africa it is representing the whole nation."

SuperSport are keen to add another piece of silverware to their cabinet this year having already won the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8.

“On personal note, I’m glad to have reached this stage of the competition. My chances of winning this cup are very high, like my coach (Eric Tinkler) said after we scored that away goal. I believe we can finish the job at home if people of South Africa can support us."
