Cape Town City have renewed the contracts of Teko Modise, Sage Stephens and Ebrahim Seedat.

This was confirmed by Cape Town City chairman John Comits in an interview he conducted with Independent Media.

“We had a couple of renewals that we had to do. Teko Modise’s contract has been renewed, Sage Stephens’ contract has also been renewed and so is Seedat.

“So, that is just the part of the business. We had options and we decided to take them. We had to do those types of contracts. The guys have stepped up and got counted. It is important for us to respect that. If I can keep Teko there forever, I will,” Comitis said.

Comitis also confirmed that his side were interested in securing the services of Bafana Bafana marksman Tokelo Rantie.

“Yes, I did try and get hold of Tokelo Rantie. He was very difficult to get hold of. I did speak to him once. It looked like a possibility, but unfortunately he had some personal issues to deal with, and we were unable to secure any advance stage discussions with him.

“He just remains someone at the back of our mind,” Comitis stated.

Rantie is a free agent now after parting ways with Genclerbirligi in Turkey.

City have earned the reputation of signing top-quality players like Modise, Surprise Ralani and Ayanda Patosi.

They’ve also been interested in the services of Michael Essien and Brilliant Khuzwayo, and were considering signing Steven Pienaar before he announced his retirement.
