CAPE TOWN – The voting is over, and now we wait…

The Fifa Puskas Award winner will be announced at the prestigious The Best Fifa Football Awards in London on Monday night, and the whole of Mzansi will be holding thumbs for Baroka FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and Venezuelan Under-17 player Deyna Castellanos are the two others who made the final short-list of three.

The event starts at 7.30pm South African time, and will be broadcast live on SuperSport 3 (channel 203) from 7pm onwards.

Masuluke, who has travelled to the British capital, made the headlines for his sensational bicycle kick in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw for Baroka against Orlando Pirates last November.

The shot-stopper had come into the penalty area for a last-gasp corner kick, and ball bounced into his path at the edge of the box.

Instead of heading it back towards goal or finding a teammate with a pass, Masuluke launched himself into the air and pulled off a stunning strike that left Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane clutching at thin air.

But despite it being one of the better goals in the history of South African football, Masuluke did not clinch the PSL Goal of the Season award, which was based on a popular vote won by Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Castellanos scored from the centre circle in the Under-17 World Cup against Cameroon last October, while Giroud produced a scorpion-kick in a Premier League clash with Crystal Palace in January.
