As Ajax Cape Town prepare to take on Polowane City in a PSL fixture at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon (3.30pm), the big question is: Will the Cape side play Tendai Ndoro?

Controversy around the Zimbabwean’s eligibility has dominated the headlines.

At issue is the fact that Ndoro has played for three different clubs this season – Orlando Pirates, Al Faisaly in Saudi Arabia and Ajax – which is a violation of Fifa rules.

The PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC), however, cleared the player last Wednesday – and he took his place in the team that beat Orlando Pirates 3-0.

But the PSL has since disagreed with the DRC and it has appealed the decision. In addition, Pirates protested against the inclusion of Ndoro on Wednesday’s game.

So, with all the noise and controversy around the player, will Ajax continue to pick him, especially as there is still no final decision as to whether he is eligible or not?

But, irrespective of Ndoro being in or out today, this is another occasion for Ajax to continue their improvement under coach Muhsin Ertugral.

Despite the win over Pirates, the Cape club are still languishing towards the basement of the PSL standings.

They will need to put together a consistent series of results if they want to improve their log position.

And as such, it’s vital that they maintain the momentum and take the positives from the Pirates triumph into today’s fixture against Polokwane.
