Montjane advances at French Open

Johannesburg – South African No 1 wheelchair tennis star KG Montjane made a solid start at the French Open Women's Wheelchair Tennis Champs on Wednesday, winning her opening round match against Sharon Walraven.

Montjane, who is ranked sixth in the world, defeated Walraven, of The Netherlands, 7-6 (5) 1-6 6-4.

She now comes up against second seed and world number two Jiske Grifjoen, of Holland, in a vital match on Thursday.

She then teams up with German star Katherina Kruger in the semis of the doubles and will play top seeds Jiske Grifjoen and Anniek van Koot, of The Netherlands. – Sapa
