Centurion – South Africa's Nikala Scholtz beat Monaco's Benjamin Balleret 7-5 7-6 (3) 3-6 3-6 6-3 in the second singles match to level the Euro-Africa Group Two tie 1-1 at the Irene Country Club in Centurion on Saturday.

Scholtz was up a set against Monaco's number one when play was suspended during the second set of the match on Friday.

On Friday, Romain Arneodo caused an upset when he beat Rik De Voest, ranked 170th in the world, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 to hand Monaco an early 1-0 lead over South Africa.

Australian Open doubles runner-up, Raven Klaasen will partner Ruan Roelofse in Saturday's doubles match where they will face Monaco's Thomas Oger and Guilluame Couillard.

In the reverse singles on Sunday, De Voest will be up against Balleret while Scholtz takes on Arneodo in the last match of the tie. – Sapa
