Durban – The Durban University of Technology (DUT) says it is looking forward to the launch of its business school under the Faculty of Management Sciences this month.

Alan Khan, DUT’s Senior Director of Corporate Affairs said business school was in alignment with its vision 2030 strategy, which is to see its people being “entrepreneurial and innovative”.

The DUT Business School, which began operating in the first semester of 2021 offers a variety of post graduate diplomas, advanced diplomas and various higher certificates.

Its flagship programme, the Master in Business Administration (MBA), commenced in 2021.

The business school welcomed its second group into the MBA programme once again this year.

Its curriculum is focused on applied business which would enable leaders to solve real life problems that contribute to socio-economic transformation.

Khan added that the DUT Business School also offers a range of academic programmes, executive education courses and short learning programmes during the year.

Its programmes are accredited by the Council for Higher Education (CHE), registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

It is also a member of the South African Business Schools Association (SABDA) and the Association of African Business Schools (AABS).

Its first cohort of graduates obtained their qualifications during the DUT Autumn Graduation season.

DUT Business School Project Leader Professor Veena Rawjee provided further insight.

“The DUT Business School has an advisory board that brings together members of society to represent among others, corporate, academia and government, both nationally and internationally.

The board members are well-credentialed leaders in their respective professions and representatives of various sectors. They are at the cutting edge of their profession - deeply aware of what employers’ expectations are of a business school graduate and attributes in both hard and soft skills and applied research,” said Rawjee.
