DURBAN - A 29-year-old man was arrested after discharging a firearm during a brawl on uMhlanga’s Chartwell Drive over ice on Friday night. 

The brawl is alleged to have started when one of the groups threw ice cubes at the other group, at a popular eatery. They were then kicked out of the establishment.

It is alleged the rivals then went into another eatery and were kicked out of there too.

Shortly after, they began fighting outside the establishment.

Videos of the incident have been circulating on social media. 

The suspect is alleged to have pulled out a firearm, firing several shots.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, confirmed that one suspect was arrested following the incident. 

He said a case of discharging a firearm had been opened at the Durban North SAPS.

“The suspect fired random shots during the incident Nobody was injured. The man was arrested and charged. No case of assault has been opened by anyone else,” said Zwane.
