The second leg of the Gathering of Worshippers (GOW18) will take place on the 1 September 2018 at the Voortrekker Monument large amphitheater in Pretoria. This year, the live DVD recording is themed Beauty for Ashes.

Known for his hunger to breaking grounds, also being the first gospel artist to #FillUpTheDome, Dr Tumi will be the first solo black gospel singer to stage a concert at the Monument, in what is a reconciliatory move and an effort to overcome South Africa’s painful past of prejudice and separation.

The return of the GOW18, according to Dr Tumi, comes as a way of meeting the great demand out there from people who either missed the last one, or want to relive the experience.

“I always strive to give the best experience to my supporters,” says Dr Tumi. “And I believe this venue will carry a significant meaning and symbolism as South Africa continues on its journey of reconciliation and nation building with God on our side,” say the Doctor.

“This year, GOW18 will be very different from last year’s in that the recording will happen in an outdoor setting for the first time,” says Dr Tumi.

“It will be a colour concert where people will be expected to come through dressed in colour. It will definately be a bigger, staging a better celebration where we will be singing out in the open skies,” tying in with the culture of Spring Day in South Africa that signifies renewal and all things bright he says.

Also, the number of attendees this year will be opened for 10 000 more than last year, bringing the number up to 30 000 in total. The show will feature various surprises,  including new music and also surprises of artists who will form part of the line-up.

He will also make history as the first local gospel star to have his concert streamed live on Vodacom View+. Subscribers will be able to witness GOW18 wherever they are in the world via a special streaming line that will be announced in due course.

“GOW18 will be an unforgettable night of worship and praise and I’m delighted to have partnered with Vodacom as we use technology to reach an even wider audience beyond Voortrekker Monument. It will be spectacular, it will be colourful and certainly an experience not to be missed.’

Last year Dr Tumi filled the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg at the inaugural instalment of GOW17.
