Johannesburg -It was all about mingling and watching a father-and-son milestone celebration with Trenery Guild at Sandton City on Tuesday night. The event was a combination of gin-tasting and a bit of shopping.

The father and son were Schalk and André Pienaar, of Pienaar & Son fame.

They created a limited-edition gin infused with sage, orange and lemon that was being tasted at the in-store event.

“It was important for us that the base of the gin is historically traditional, but there’s a very modern and fresh note that comes through with the surprising and complex sage and orange combination,” explained André.

He approaches the blending of botanicals and brings together traditional ingredients with a contemporary twist, creating craft spirits with modern heritage. This, together with Schalk’s 40 years of experience in the distilling business, makes the pair a formidable team.

This approach, says Trenery head of design Jane Grimme, is epitomised in the store's menswear, providing the urban gentleman with expertly tailored garments that both reflect the modern mood and give a nod to tradition.

“We are honoured to have partnered with Pienaar & Son for the guild. Their vision speaks to a sartorial heritage, where skills are passed down from one generation to the next. We share an affinity for timeless style and quality,” she said.

Trenery has finally put a lid on their series, which kicked off in February with other collaborators.
