Joyous Celebration is always on the rise and seem to outdo themselves time and time again. This Tuesday, a private screening for the media and cast was staged to witness the group’s latest venture into the cinema world.
The group gathered at Hyde Park Corner’s NuMetro cinema for the unveiling of the Joyous 22 All For You #ExtremeCinemaExperience. The cinema experience will be shown from Friday at selected movie outlets but we were the first to see it.
I must admit, it was a little confusing as to how musical content that is already out there for public consumption can be reproduced to create a unique experience for the viewers. As it was explained and shown, the movie will consist of various special effects, and 46 different camera angles gave the viewing a whole new dimension and interaction.
Co-founder of the group Lindelani Mkhize said the idea is another way Joyous Celebration seeks to break boundaries.
“We (JC) have been at the forefront of a lot of innovative ways of creating music in the gospel space. And as times are changing, it was important for us to look at other fresh unique ways for our fans to consume the product. And we realised that cinemas have their own different market. Let us create a fresh new way within this space,” said Lindelani.
In the secluded parts of the cinema, we were treated to some nibbles before being ushered in for the experience. Present at the premiere was the cast of the movie, who are also JC choir members Andiswa Mbantsa, Vuyelwa Oke, Andile Thabethe and Khaya Sibanyoni. Whether this is a good experience will be left entirely to you to decide.
