A PICNIC in the gardens of the new Featherbrooke Hotel and Spa was the scene for a glorious Saturday event with Dr Anushka Reddy. The who’s who of the aesthetics world and celebrity guests gathered at this Joburg West escape for a pamper-filled day.

Reddy, owner of Medi-Sculpt, invited the guests to celebrate youthfulness.

Medi-Sculpt is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment specialist centre at the estate, focused on anti-ageing and aesthetic treatments. Reddy’s 18 years of medical experience allow her to fulfil many people’s dreams of ageless beauty.

As the scientific director of the Cosmetic Congress of SA, her interest lies in enhancing men's and women’s natural beauty using advanced non-surgical procedures.

Guests included stylish Mampho Brescia, Miss SA finalist Karishma Ramdev and Jay Anstey, who chose a casual look for the event.

Model Ayanda Nhlapo, choreographer Nkateko "Takkies" Maswanganye, blogger Sarah Langa and actress Zakeeya Patel were there, as was former Miss South Africa Kerishnie Naicker.

Sarah Langa and Jessica van Heerden did glammed-up jeans with black bags and statement jackets.

“There have been many new developments in aesthetic medicine, especially non-surgical procedures, said Reddy.

"Demand for facial aesthetics is on the rise simply because, in 2016, for the first time in over a decade, cosmetic surgery figures have fallen significantly. Surgeries like tummy tucks, liposuction and breast augmentation, remain popular, but non-surgical treatments figures are steadily increasing.”

She said the top five trends for these procedures were medical facials, Face Whisperers, vampire facials, vaginal rejuvenation and fat removal.

“Medical facials are being embraced by medi-spas, doctors and beauty spas. People want results, but they also want to be pampered. So they go for facials with flawless skin results, along with massages and other pampering.”

She said with trends like Face Whisperers, where people didn’t want chemicals injected into their faces, natural body tissue, like stem cells harvested from infant foreskins, was an option.

DJ Kimmy K was on the decks

“Despite botox and fillers being around for over two decades people are still averse to chemicals. They prefer using natural human body tissue, injected to smooth out the skin. Stem cells derived from foreskins are now being harvested, and have just been introduced into the local market.”

As people continue to opt for non-invasive treatments that provide quicker, safer and more natural-looking results than surgical solutions, Reddy said the convenience of these was that they could be quickly and safely performed, even during a lunch hour from work.

“The quickest procedure is an eight-minute one, performed while the client is clothed and seated comfortably in a chair. Non-surgical is the new surgical. Over the last decade we have seen changes in procedures, products and techniques that allow us to shape, tighten, lift and improve the skin without a client having to go under the knife.”

On the day, the high-profile guests indulged in tasty treats and bubbly, while enjoying music by DJ Kimmy K. Medi-Sculpt hostesses treated the guests at five treatment stations, showcasing the latest in anti-ageing treatments.

Mampho Brescia keeps it stylishly simple.

Reddy and her husband, Dr Mahesh Naidu, have worked on the project for the last six years, and it's the first medical spa retreat in the country. The themed beauty stations gave guests a feel of everything the spa offers including: a glam bar for essential beauty tricks, Ergon’s Cellurase, offering permanent cellulite removal, a pelvic suite, and an LED mask suite, for nourishment for dehydrated winter skin. The treatment has seen stars like Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Kim Kardashian and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, swear by its efficacy. The last station was the Genop Neostrata luxury hand peel to reduce the signs of ageing.

The day ended with travel gifts and vouchers being presented to those who kept social media up to date during the event.
