Finally, a smartphone battery that powers up quicker and lasts longer

An extended battery life is one of the key features that all smartphone users demand of their devices.

Because our phones have become our 24/7/365 companions, it's essential that they perform optimally, whenever we need them, and don't need to take a lot of time out when they're running low.

Over the past few years, smartphone manufacturers have competed against each other to address the problems of constant charging and shorter battery life through increasing charging speed and expanding on capacity. It is little wonder, then, that Huawei's latest flagship device, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, features the world's most substantial battery in a premium smartphone.

Develop a superpower

Not only does the Huawei Mate 20 Pro's 4200 mAh battery trump competitor capacity, but it also offers SuperCharge functionality. SuperCharge harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to enable intelligent charging via a Smart Charge Protocol (SCP), which allows the smartphone to establish direct communication with the charger.

Impressively, SuperCharge ensures your phone can reach a 70% charge in just 30 minutes. Best of all, speed does not compromise safety here, as Huawei's SuperCharge has been certified by TÜV Rheinland, so your phone does not get caught up in the heat of the moment while charging.

Another element that ensures Huawei Mate 20 Pro users get the most out of their battery is the phone's Kirin 980 chipset with dual Neural Processing Unit. This allows the smartphone to optimise its battery by distributing power more efficiently to essential tasks.

Charge on the go

With its latest premium device, Huawei has also introduced wireless charging capability for the first time. Unbelievably, this wireless charging is 100% faster than the wired charging capabilities of similar competitor devices; it can even be used to reverse charge other smartphones that are compatible.

Ahead of its time

While many smartphones now feature a Lithium-Ion battery, Huawei introduced the Lithium-Polymer battery in its earlier models. For example, the Huawei Mate 9 offered users up to two full days of battery life on a single charge and a full day of power after charging for just half an hour.

Then, when the Huawei Mate 10 Pro launched in South Africa in 2017, Huawei showed that it was even more committed to improving battery performance, now through the power of AI.

When the Huawei P20 Pro came onto the market earlier this year, it had an increased battery capacity of 4000mAh and efficient battery management solution, meaning that it could power through simultaneous strenuous tasks. This device was also able to identify the load capacity of the charger and cable, thus addressing battery requirements in real-time.

With the new Mate 20 Pro, and its predecessors, Huawei has proved that it is at the apex of smartphone battery innovation, creating mobile charging solutions which serve as a benchmark and new industry standard.
